Finding The Right Foundation Color!

One of the biggest challenges we all tend to have with foundation is finding the correct shade of color. So many of us have thought at one point or another that we found "The One!" But sadly, "The One" ended up making you look like a ghost or like you fell asleep with a heat lamp over your face.

Fortunately, there are ways to prevent this dilemma! Here are some tips on how to find the right foundation color for you:

  • First, figure out what your undertone is. You could have either a warm or cool tone. Easy way to figure out which tone you are is by checking out the color of your veins. You're most likely cool toned if your veins are blue and your skin has a pink tint to it. For warmer tones, the veins will be more of a green color and your skin may have a yellowish tint.
  • If you're anything like myself, and prefer to NOT spend a fortune on your foundation, obviously drugstores such as Walgreens or CVS (or wherever low end makeup is sold) is the place to go. Unfortunately, you can't test the products on yourself. The best way to compare is to hold the preferred product to your jawline and compare which color closely matches your skin. If it's still unclear, purchase the 2 closest matching colors. This way you can mix the two foundations together to create your own perfect match!
  • Last but not least and if you're willing to pay extra for a definitive match, go to a department store that sells your preferred  brand of makeup and have a professional match you. Simple!!

If these tips helped at all or if you have your own method of finding your perfect foundation color, comment!
